What woman hasn't looked at a Gil Elvgren painting and imagined themselves as a sexy, cheeky pinup girl of yesteryear? I've been drawn to these vintage vixen illustrations for years, and not just because I've heard a time or two that I would fit right into the look of the time. So when I heard about Pin Up Cosmetics, I knew there'd be something in the line for me.

I was right: ever since trying their Buxom Vegan Lip Gloss, it hasn't left my makeup bag unless it's in my hand and being applied. At first, I was worried that the brand's penchant for retro beauty would mean the sexy red I saw in the tube would end up too bold to be wearable on a regular basis; but to my delight, it's quite the opposite.

Made with minerals and jojoba oil, Buxom goes on build-ably sheer, with a shine intensity falling somewhere between a balm and traditional gloss. And the red itself is perfect: not too pinky-blue, not too orangey-brown. Just a soft, flushed red that I feel totally comfortable wearing anytime, anywhere.

I especially love how smooth Buxom feels, both when it goes on and for the extent of wearing it. My lips never feel dry and always look luscious.

Now if only I could find some frilly undies and a boatload of coy confidence, my pinup transformation will be complete!
